Thaa Atoll Kite Adventure: Explore, Boost & Live Like Legends!

Harness the wind and send your kites across the turquoise waters of the Maldives.

With the Stay Mikado as your base camp, you’ll dodge the crowds and get some extra time on the water in Thaa Atoll. This is your chance to boost your kite skills, discover untouched coral reefs and deserted islands, and live like legends.

The Maldives may be known for its luxe honeymoons and diving, but when it comes to kiting, this place is still relatively uncharted territory. With over 160 resorts and countless islands, only a few have the ideal lagoons and wind conditions, making this a prime spot for pro kite schools. Let's make some memories and send it!

Why you’ll love this trip

Deluxe Lodging

Ultimate accommodations and unparalleled service

Elite Encounters

Remarkable, genuine adventures throughout your journey

Elite Expertise

Guided by top-tier, highly-rated professionals

  • Every day, you can join two surf trips aboard a speedboat or dhoni, just a five-minute ride away. The first trip starts early and you’ll be back in time for lunch, then you’ll hit the water again for another four to five hours of kiting.

  • When you’re not killing it on the water, we can chill on an uninhabited island or dive into the house reef for some snorkeling. It's all up to you.

  • The Stay Mikado offers luxury accommodations at an affordable price, the best on the island. With twelve standard rooms and two-family suites, you’ll be living in style.

  • You will be scoring pristine sandbank lagoons, void of other kiters, located near every inhabited isle. During the windy season, May to November, you’ll have access to 20-knot winds.

Heads Up!

  • Getting there is part of the fun. From Male International Airport you’ll be escorted to the domestic terminal lounge ready for a fascinating bird’s-eye view flight of the Maldives – a 30-minute flight to directly to Thimarafushi.

  • Some of the domestic planes are small with limited baggage space. If you are planning to bring your surfboard, make sure it doesn’t exceed 7 foot (213 cm). Let us know in advance so that we can confirm the arrangement with the domestic airline.

  • Wild-life sightings are not always predictable, and though they will try their best to make your experience worthwhile–it is ultimately beyond the control of the service provider.

  • Local islands are distinctly different from resorts, in that you share the island with locals. With the tourism boom in the island, you will find many guest houses under construction.

  • Local islands also do not have the same resources and capacity as resorts: some issues such as waste management. Be forewarned that you may come across unsightly sites on your evening stroll around the island (this is beyond the guest house’s control).

  • Thimarafushi is a very small island, there is one or two small cafes on the island and only two tiny shops. Keep in mind that you should bring everything other than basic necessities with you.

  • Alcohol is not available since it’s a local island.
